The footballing world is gradually dragged into the raging military confrontation between Israel and Palestine, MySportDab reports.
The Israeli military has been on countless offensives against Hamas-led Palestinian forces after the latter launched a shock offensive on August 7, 2023, targeting Southern Israel.
The August 7 attack led to the killing, maiming, and detaining of several Israeli citizens sparking a retaliatory attack by Israel.
Since then, the two sides have been engulfed in a heated war with Israel steadily bombing and killing both military and civilian targets in Palestine.
On August 6, 2025, the Palestinian Football Authorities alleged that Israeli Defence Forces shot and killed the country’s top-rated, revered, and highly talented footballer Suleiman Al-Obeid in one of their offensives.
On Saturday, UEFA posted footage of the deceased footballer consoling the player and the post was met with a spiteful remark by Mohamed Salah.
The Liverpool sensational forward retweeted the post, spitefully charging UEFA to disclose what killed the player.
He wrote, “Can you tell us how he died, where, and why?”
Salah’s comment was apparently a caustic tirade of UEFA’s handling of the ongoing Israeli and Palestinian conflict.
There has been widespread outrage from football fans calling for Israel to be suspended from UEFA football competitions for allegedly targeting civilians in the ongoing war with the Palestinians.
Suleiman Al-Obeid allegedly became one of such casualties. According to the Palestinian Football Authorities, Al-Obeid was waiting for aid to assist his stricken wife when Israeli Defence Forces specifically targeted and shot him down.
Obeid played as a right-wing forward for several elite Palestinian clubs before calling time on his career in 2023. He was dubbed ‘the Palestinian Pele’ due to his pristine footballing skills.
