RB Leipzig have issued a statement on Benjamin Sesko amid reports linking the player to a move to Manchester United, MySportDab reports.
We reported earlier that United rivalled Newcastle United’s bid for Sesko by offering a package worth €85m for the player.
This offer, comprising €75m transfer free and €10m add-ons, fell short of Newcastle’s €90m bid. However, United were still expected to beat the Magpies on the race due to Sesko’s preference decision.
Notably, while United lagged behind Newcastle in the race for the player, they were locked in talks first to secure personal terms and only wanted to bid after assurances that the player would join.
At the time of filing this report, it is understood Newcastle United Habs now been phased out in the race for Sesko with United now close to agreeing terms with Leipzig for the 22-year-old.
This followed the player’s decision to prefer Man United after both clubs tables their offer to Leipzig.
Now, as shared by Manchester Evening News, RB Leipzig have issued a Benjamin Sesko statement that touches on the player’s expected transfer exit from the club.
Confirming an update on their squad ahead of their preseason clash against, the Bundesliga side revealed Sesko is training separately from the team.
“Wednesday squad update: Andrija Maksimovic is back in Leipzig, but is training individually today. Benjamin Sesko and Lukas Klostermann are also working individually,” Manchester Evening News quotes.
It is understood the decision to make Sesko train separately is due to his imminent exit from the club to Man United.
United are still locked in talks with the Bundesliga side to ascertain the final payment structure for the deal after their €85m offer was accepted.
And Sesko is expected to travel to UK for his Man United medicals and signing of contract in a matter of hours.
