Super Falcons and Paris FC goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie has expressed immense joy after earning a nomination for the prestigious 2025 Women’s Yachine Trophy, hailing the recognition as a landmark achievement in her career, MySportDab Reports.
The 24-year-old enjoyed a sensational season, guiding Paris FC to their first Coupe de France triumph in over 20 years and playing a pivotal role in Nigeria’s record-extending 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title.
“This nomination means a lot to me. It’s a thing of joy for me and my family. It shows that all the hard work, all the consistency, all the prayers — it’s been working,” Nnadozie told Bold Sports.
“Of course, I’m so happy about this. For me it’s like a morale booster. Whatever you’re doing, the world is watching. Never stop.”
Nnadozie is one of five goalkeepers shortlisted for the award, joining Ann-Katrin Berger (Germany), Cata Coll (Spain), Hannah Hampton (England), and Daphne van Domselaar (Netherlands).
The Women’s Yachine Trophy honours the best women’s goalkeeper in the world over the past year and is part of the annual Ballon d’Or ceremony.
“This Ballon d’Or nomination means the whole world to me. It shows that we have a lot of good goalkeepers in Africa,” she added.
The Nigerian shot-stopper also used the moment to inspire fellow African goalkeepers: “I want to use this opportunity to encourage all of us — keep working hard, keep doing what you’re doing, and I believe one day the skies will be your starting point.”
The winners of the Ballon d’Or and all associated awards, including the Women’s Yachine Trophy, will be revealed on Monday, 22 September 2025, at the iconic Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris.
