Newcastle United have reached agreement with RB Leipzig for Benjamin Sesko, MySportDab reports.
The Magpies have been on the trail of Sesko to replace Liverpool-bound Alexander Isak. They submitted a €75m bid for the player but were turned down.
Now, according to Fabrizio Romano, the Premier League club have now submitted a new offer to the tune of €80m for Sesko and Leipzig have now accepted the offer.
Further details reveal that the value of the total offer will work out at €85m when add-ons are included. This will make Sesko one of the most expensive departures from RB Leipzig.
Notably, Newcastle United took a reverse route in the Benjamin Sesko move. They first initiated talks with RB Leipzig without agreeing personal terms with the player yet.
Hence, having sealed club terms, they are now expected to proceed with talks with Sesko’s camp to settle personal terms and seal the move.
Meanwhile, they are facing competition from domestic rivals Manchester United for the player. United are understood to be in talks with Sesko but have yet to submit an offer for the player.
The Red Devils now have to race against time to beat Newcastle in the race for the player. They are reportedly ready to match the Magpies offer for Sesko, but want to secure personal terms first.
Sesko is reportedly open to joining either of the two Premier League clubs, but is fancying a move to Man United more.
Nevertheless, Newcastle United are still considered the favourites to sign him having overtaken Man United in the race for the player.
