Gary Neville Identifies Glaring Problem in Man United Squad After Defeat Vs Arsenal

Former Man United player and Sky Sport pundit Gary Neville has identified one glaring problem with Ruben Amorim’s Man United squad after their opening Premier League loss against Arsenal, MySportDab reports.

The Red Devils suffered a 1-0 defeat to Arsenal at Old Trafford in the Premier League opener.

Italian defender Ricardo Calafiori’s first-half header from a corner kick was all Arsenal needed to inflict defeat on the Ruben Amorim-led side.

Speaking on the match on punditry duties with Sky Sports, Gary Neville pointed out that one glaring problem with the Amorim squad is in the goalkeeping department.

According to him, the team must think of signing an experienced goalkeeper to beef up the squad if they look to stage a formidable challenge in the English top flight this season.

‘It is really unsettling when you don’t have a dominant No 1 who owns his six-yard box, who comes and punches everything and makes saves to save you points when your defenders make mistakes.’

‘I have experience at United for 20 years where there were two big periods of seven or eight years with [Peter] Schmeichel and [Edwin] Van der Sar, and in between we had seven or eight goalkeepers in a seven or eight year period.

United’s No.2 Altay Bayindir was in-between the sticks for the Red Devils in the match and was blamed for allowing the cheap header from Ricardo Calafiori.

MySportDab understands Ruben Amorim is set to overhaul his goalkeeping department with the team’s No.1 Andre Onana falling out of favor.

The were linked to out-of-favour PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma but the latter is now closing in on joining the Reds Devils’ cross-city rivals Manchester City.

It is still unclear whether the Amorim-led recruitment team will scour the market to reinforce the goalkeeping department before the transfer window closes.

Meanwhile, United will hope to return to winning ways when they travel to face Craven Cottage to take on Fulham in their next match on Sunday.
