Manchester United and Newcastle United are now going head-to-head in their move for Benjamin Sesko, MySportDab reports.
After Newcastle United met RB Leipzig’s €80m asking price for Sesko, United have also reportedly tabled a similar offer for the services of the prolific forward.
According to Indykhaila News, RB Leipzig accepted Newcastle’s offer for Sesko. However, United were understood to still stand a chance in the race for the player.
And with an €85m bid now on the table, they are now strongly in the race for the player.
Notably, United and Newcastle’s head-to-head push for Sesko has left the transfer saga finely poised for a late drama.
More twists are expected in the next few hours or coming days as both clubs stand on equal footing in the race for the player.
Amid the twist and turns, Ben Jacobs has confirmed that Sesko has agreed financial terms with the two clubs and is ready to join any of them pending settlement of club terms with RB Leipzig.
The ball is now on RB Leipzig’s court to evaluate the offers and then give a nod for the move. United are understood to have lagged behind Newcastle in the race because they wanted to agree personal terms first with Sesko.
Conversely, Newcastle United pushed to settle club terms first before approaching the player to align personal terms.
Notably, despite Newcastle’s earlier bid, Sesko is understood to be more interested in joining United than the Tyne-based outfit.
And should RB Leipzig accept United’s offer, he is ready to move to the Old Trafford club. However, nothing is ascertained for now with both clubs still standing tall in the race for the striker.
