Ademola Lookman has officially submitted a transfer request to Atalanta, citing “broken promises” and poor treatment by the club as the reasons behind his decision to leave after three successful seasons, MySportDab Reports.
In an emotional social media post on Sunday, the Nigerian international confirmed he is seeking a new challenge after scoring 52 goals in 117 appearances for La Dea.
Lookman expressed his gratitude to Atalanta fans and reflected on key moments, including the club’s historic UEFA Europa League triumph last season.
“Winning the Europa League and celebrating with our fans in Dublin was one of the proudest moments of my career,” the 26-year-old wrote. “But after many months of broken promises, I feel I have no choice but to speak out and request a transfer.”
Lookman revealed that Atalanta previously assured him they would allow him to leave if a fair offer arrived, but claims the club is now blocking a move despite such an offer being submitted.
Inter Milan are reported to be among the clubs interested in the winger, though Atalanta are holding firm on their €50 million valuation.
The situation has sparked tension in Bergamo. Even before Lookman’s official announcement, a banner appeared outside Atalanta’s Zingonia training ground accusing players and agents of disrespecting the club and fans.
This latest transfer drama follows last summer’s saga involving Teun Koopmeiners, adding to frustrations among supporters.
Despite the turmoil, Lookman emphasized his love for the fans and his pride in representing the club, saying, “It’s simply about standing up for what I believe is fair and right.”
With the Premier League and Serie A transfer windows heating up, Lookman’s next move—and Atalanta’s response—will be closely watched in the weeks ahead.
