Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has made his feelings clear on Rasmus Hojlund amid speculations on the player’s future at the club, MySportDab reports.
Rasmus Hojlund has endured mixed fortunes at Man United since his joined the club from £73m from Atalanta in 2023.
Under former Man United manager Erik ten Hag, Hojlund started 25 matches and came on as substitute in five in his first season. He tallied 16 goals across the 30 appearances, comprising 10 Premier League, 5 Europa League, and one in the FA Cup.
Under Amorim, the Danish forward’s benchmarks has left much to be desired. He grappled with a lengthy drought, spanning 14 matches, before finally breaking the duck on March 16 when he netted the opener for the Red Devils in a 3-0 win over Leicester City in the Premier League.
And that has been his only strike in a competitive fixture for the Red Devils under Amorim. Following his falling stats and United’s reinforcements in attack this summer, his future at the club has come under intense scrutiny.
According to close sources, a return to the Serie A has been on the table for Hojlund with Inter Milan set to be interested in his services.
However, Amorim has partially cleared the air on the 22-year-old’s prospects at Old Trafford. The Portuguese tactician revealed he is happy with the player after the 4-1 Premier League Summer Series win over Bournemouth.
However, he refused to rule out his possible exit from the club this summer, saying he doesn’t know what will happen in the transfer window.
“I am happy with Rasmus Hojlund, but I don’t know what will happen in the transfer market,* he said.
Rasmus Hojlund is set to face stiff competition for United’s No 9 role after the club signed Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford for £72m.
He has three years left on his Man United contract but could be forced to take a new challenge elsewhere if he fell out of favour under Amorim.
