Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak has started training alone at his previous club Real Sociedad as the speculation about his future is heating up, with the press going as far as linking the Swedish forward with a record-breaking transfer to Liverpool.

Isak, who has moved to Newcastle in 2022 for a club-record fee, has not accompanied the Magpies on their pre-season tour.

While Newcastle are adamant that a thigh injury is the reason for his absence, sources reveal that the 25-year-old has indicated dissatisfaction with the club and his wish to leave this summer.

In line with El Diario Vasco, Isak has turned back to Sociedad’s sports ground in Spain, where he is doing some individual work with a fitness coach as a part of his recovery.

Though earlier reports suggested that Newcastle was not aware of his whereabouts, Sky Sports News is saying the club is fully aware of the situation.

Liverpool are said to be ready to break the bank and make Isak the most expensive signing in Premier League history with a potential offer of £150 million (\$199.5m).

However, Newcastle are still very much holding on to their star striker and instead plan to extend his contract.

Sociedad, Isak’s former employers, are the ones who will prosper from this sale if it ever occurs. The Spanish club is entitled to 10% of any transfer fee beyond €70 million (£60.4m), in addition to 2% of the total amount of the transaction….

Liverpool’s initial informal approach for Isak was swiftly declined, hence the Reds decided to focus on Hugo Ekitiké for a short period, who has now gone to Eintracht Frankfurt.

Yet, Liverpool are still willing to come back with an official offer if Newcastle show any signs of alleviation.

In the meantime, Newcastle have been looking at other options, such as RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Šeško.

However, the Magpies are no longer alone as they also have rivals from Manchester United, who are after the same player and want to get the Slovenian striker in their team.

This transfer period some of the main headlines are going to be about the Isak saga, it appears to be coming to an end drama.
