Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has doubled down on his attempt to re-engineer his La Liga-winning squad ahead of the next campaign with sundry changes, MySportDab reports.
The former Bayern Munich boss recently added out-of-favour Mann’t United forward Marcus Rashford to their attacking ranks after a loan contract with the Red Devils with a buy option.
More additions are expected as well as departures as the club looks to balance the books to avoid a collision with financial fair play rules.
We reported earlier that Christian Eriksen is one of the top names expected to leave this summer as more names/starlets flood the team’s defence ranks.
They have also parted ways with midfielder Ansu Fati but on a loan transfer to Monaco, including Pablo Torre, and Pau Victor.
Another key name expected to leave the squad this summer is former Southampton defensive midfielder Oriol Romeu.
According to Marca, Hansi Flick has dropped the 33-year-old from first team to further drive home his decision to axe him from the team.
He is understood to be currently training alone while awaiting his exit from the Catalan giants.
Romeu joined Barcelona from Girona in 2023 and has since struggled to nail down a regular spot in the first team.
He won 28 caps to his belt with the La Liga champions before being loaned back to Girona last season.
According to Spanish outlets, Barcelona are not open to another loan deal for the 33-year-old, but wants a permanent exit solution.
Valencia are set to be interested in his services, with Barcelona eager to close a deal for his exit by next week.
He has been left out of the team’s preseason squad. Other clubs are reportedly interested but there are feelers he may likely remain in Spanish football after the imminent Barcelona exit.
