Bruno Fernandes bagged a brace as Manchester United defeated West Ham United in preseason friendly, MySportDab reports.
A ding-dong affair between the two teams at MetLife Stadium saw United come out top, thanks to Bruno Fernandes’ heroics.
Notably, West Ham United had a larger swath of the ball, but struggled to match United’s attacking prowess. The Red Devils managed 43% of the ball possession, but had more attempts on target.
Bruno Fernandes opened the scoring for the team in the 5th minute converting from the spot and the goal was enough to send United into the break with a lead.
Newcastle had a better run in the game going forward after Bruno’s penalty goal, but couldn’t find a break through.
Meanwhile, seven minutes into the second half, Bruno Fernandes doubled the lead for United against the run of play.
The Hammers then stepped up further in search of their opening goal. Three minutes after the hour mark, they finally broke the deadlock to halve the deficit.
Jarrod Bowen scored a stunner to leave the game on a nervy final 27 minutes as United battled to retain their narrow lead while West Ham pushed for the equaliser.
West Ham came close to netting the equaliser with clear chances but couldn’t make them count. The game finally ended with United winning 2-1 after the final whistle to kick off their summer series campaign on a winning note.
They will aim to continue on winning ways when taking on Andoni Iraola’s Bournemouth in their next fixture on Thursday.
