Lionel Messi is showing no sign of slowing down despite nearing the twilights of his illustrious soccer career, MySportDab reports.
The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner, Leagues Cup and Supporters Shield champion, was once again on the spotlight as Inter Miami edge Nashville 2-1 in MLS matchday 19 cracker at Chase Stadium in Florida.
Inter Miami went into the game sixth on the Eastern Conference table and needed victory to continue their push to return to the top of the rankings.
They had won their four matches in a row prior to the matchup with Lionel Messi registering braces in all.
And Nashville couldn’t halt the Herons’ tempestuous recent form as Lionel Messi was once again on the line to produce another masterclass for a fifth consecutive victory.
The Barcelona legend opened the scoring in the seventh minute to race the hosts into the lead.
The goal was enough to secure a narrow lead for Javier Mascherano’s men at the break but Nashville weren’t ready to give in without a fight.
Four minutes into the restart, they found a leveler through Hany Mukhtar.
13 minutes later, Messi race Inter Miami into the lead again scoring his second goal and fifth consecutive brace.
The 62nd-minute strike was enough to secure all three points for the Supporters Shield champions as they made it five straight wins in five MLS matches with Leo Messi’s magical streak of braces.
They have now move up to 5th in the Eastern Conference rankings with 38 points and are just four points behind league leaders Philadelphia Union who have played three games more.
