Arsenal have finally reached a breakthrough for top-rated forward Viktor Gyokeres, MySportDab reports.
The Gunners have been on the trail of Gyokeres but suffered setbacks due to disagreement with Sporting over the player’s transfer fee.
Sporting Lisbon wanted a fee in the range of €80m while Arsenal offered just €5m less. This led to a temporary collapse of the negotiations between both parties for the player.
It was understood that Arsenal contingents even left Portugal as negotiations stalled with no imminent solution in sight.
However, in a drastic turn of events, the Gunners have finally broken even in their talks with the Primeira champions for the player.
According to Fabrizio Romano, two rounds of talks last night have finally produced a decent agreement between the Premier League club and Sporting for the Gyokeres move.
Gyokeres is also said to have played a big role in brokering the deal as he agreed to give up 10% of his commission to make the move happen.
Details of the agreement reveal Arsenal will now pay €63.5m plus €10m add-ons to Sporting for Gyokeres. At the time of filing this report, it has been confirmed Gyokeres’ agents are in London to seal final details of the detail with the player set to for his Arsenal medical.
This agreement finally brings to an end a dragging transfer saga that nearly grounded Gyokeres’ career with Arsenal now set to land their first traditional No. 9 under Mikel Arteta.
Gyokeres scored over 50 goals in all competitions for Sporting Lisbon last season and is tipped to play a big role in Arsenal’s campaign next season.
He is now Arsenal’s fifth signing this summer after Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad Kepa Arrizabalaga and Noni Madueke from Chelsea and Christian Norgaard from Brentford.
