The Oklahoma City Thunder clinched their first NBA championship since relocating in 2008, defeating the Indiana Pacers 103-91 in Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals on Sunday night, MySportDab Reports.
Powered by MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s 29-point performance, the Thunder sealed a 4-3 series victory and etched their name into history as the second youngest team to win an NBA title.
Gilgeous-Alexander capped off a remarkable season by becoming the first player in NBA history to win the scoring title, league MVP, Finals MVP, and multiple Game 7s in the same campaign.
His 3,172 combined points across the regular season and playoffs are the most by any player since Michael Jordan. He averaged 30.3 points and 5.6 assists in the Finals.
The Thunder’s supporting cast stepped up in the title-decider, with Jalen Williams scoring 20 points and Chet Holmgren contributing 18 points, eight rebounds, and five blocks. Holmgren, just a rookie, became the youngest player since Tim Duncan to tally at least 10 blocks in an NBA Finals series.
Indiana, hoping to claim their first-ever championship, were dealt a major blow early in Game 7 when star guard Tyrese Haliburton exited with a lower right leg injury. ESPN later reported, citing Haliburton’s father, that it may be an Achilles injury.
Despite leading 48-47 at halftime, the Pacers were outscored 34-20 in a dominant third quarter by the Thunder. T.J. McConnell provided a spark for Indiana in the second half, but it wasn’t enough as Oklahoma City extended their lead to 22 in the fourth quarter and never looked back.
The Thunder’s only previous NBA title came in 1979, when the franchise was known as the Seattle SuperSonics. This win marks a new era of dominance in Oklahoma City.
