Arsenal’s top midfielder Thomas Partey may be leaving the club this summer, MySportDab reports.
The Ghana international has been a key part of Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal squad since joining from Atletico Madrid in 2020.
However, it appears he may be coming to the end of his spell with the Londoners this summer.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal have suffered setback in their attempt to renew Partey’s contract with the player likely to call an end to his chapter with the Gunners.
MySportDab understands Arsenal have been locked in talks with Partey to renew his deal as the 32-year-old closes in on the expiration of his current deal in a matter of days.
It is yet unclear what has led to the standstill in the renewal talks between both parties. However, Mikel Arteta’s decision to further overhaul his midfield options must have played a critical role in the standoff.
Recall Partey was initially among top names expected to leave the club in the wake of Arteta’s midfield revamp in the 2023 summer.
However, the midfielder fought his way back into the team despite the overarching influence of a £100m acquisition from West Ham United Declan Rice.
This summer, the Gunners have further added Martin Zubimendi to their midfield options with the likes of Jorginho shown the exit door and Partey may be the next.
He has made over 100 appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring nine goals and has been linked to a move to Saudi Arabia and other European clubs.
