Spain has qualified for the 2025 UEFA Nations League final following a nine-goal thriller in Stuttgart against France, MySportDab reports.
The rollercoaster matchup lived up to the billing with its intensity, drama, and pomp of action from start to finish.
Spain started on a strong note and struck twice in a space of three minutes to roar into the lead. Nico Williams opened the scoring for La Roja in the 22nd minute before Mikel Merino doubled the lead.
These quickfire goals were enough to send the reigning European champions to the break with a deserved 2-0 lead.
In the second half, de La Fuente’s side compounded France’s woes. Another stormy double of goals extended their lead by two more goals.
Lamine Yamal netted the third goal, scoring from the spot from his won penalty before Pedri, latching on an assist from Nico Williams, made it 4-0 just a minute later.
For a cracker matchup featuring two of the best teams in Europe, 4-0 was an outrageous scoreline.
However, France weren’t ready to give in easily and what followed after they went down by the four unreplied goals was breathtaking.
Kylian Mbappe opened the scoring for the team, converting his won penalty to make it 4-1. Mbappe’s strike must have enlivened France’s slender hopes in the game, but Lamine Yamal did another damage just a few minutes later.
The Barcelona youngster bagged his brace in the 67th minute to restore Spain’s four-goal lead but France pulled an incredible display afterwards to ensure La Roja don’t just get over the line at ease.
Rayan Cherki scored in the 79th minute to make it 5-2 before Spain Vivian’s own goal further reduced the deficit to just two goals.
In the third minute of added time, Randal Kolo Muani scored a header from Cherki’s cross to make it 5-4.
With the deficit now down to one goal, the stage was set for a frenetic finish to the game. Spain fell back in the final minutes to defend the win while France pushed for the equaliser.
And it finally ended with Spain escaping with a narrow victory to book their place in the final of the competition.
