Harry Kane scored a brace as Bayern Munich defeated Flamengo in a six-goal thriller to qualify for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup quarterfinals, MySportDab reports.

Flamengo finished top of their group to secure qualification to the next round of the competition and one of their standout performances in the group stages was a shock win over Chelsea.

After an impressive opening 10-0 victory over Auckland City and a 2-1 win over Boca Juniors, Bayern stumbled to a defeat to Benfica in the final round of matches in the group stages.

This saw the team finish second in the standings to set up the round of 16 clash against Flamengo.

This tie was expected to be a largely balanced game with both teams on equal strength to make it to the next round and it didn’t veer off trajectory.

Despite losing the attacking war to the European opponents, Flamengo proved to be the better side, controlling 51% of the ball possession with more shots (12) – four more than the Bavarians who had eight.

However, what Bayern did better was convert their chances to turn the game around. The Bavarians’ had four shots on target, turning three of which into the back of the net.

After being blessed with an own goal by Vulgar just six minutes into the game, Harry Kane made it 2-0 three minutes later.

However, three minutes after the half hour, Gerson put one back for Flamengo to halve the deficit but Goretzka ensured he restored the two-goal lead in the 41st minute before the break.

Five minutes into the restart, Jorginho scored from the spot to halve the deficit again for the Brazilian side but Kane would bag his brace in the 73rd minute to restore the two-goal lead again.

Proceedings ended with Bayern Munich winning 4-2 to set up an eagerly anticipated quarter-final matchup against PSG.
