Bruno Fernandes has turned down a chance to leave Manchester United this summer and perhaps become of of the highest-paid footballers in the world, MySportDab reports.

The Man United captain had been a target for Al-Hilal who needed another marquee addition to their squad for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup after Neymar’s exit.

The 2023-24 Saudi Pro League champions weren’t just in the move to prop Bruno Fernandes’ availability, but were definitely intentional.

They offered a four-year contract with a tempting weekly offer estimated to be in the range of £700,000 – almost three times Bruno’s Man United paycheck.

Moreover, the Blues were ready to pay as much as £100million to United for the player. This would have made Bruno Fernandes United’s most expensive player.

Given the Red Devils’ financial issues due to a dwindling fortunes on the field, a £100million was a big turnover for a player aged 30, especially in a summer they need enough liquidity to rejig and reinforce the squad for new manager Ruben Amorim.

Sources close to the club revealed they were ready to sell Bruno, but will leave it in the hands of the player to take a decision on whether he wants to leave or stay.

Now, according to Fabrizio Romano, Bruno Fernandes has turned down the offer and opted to continue his career with Man United.

The decision is more of a surprise given developments in the move in the past few days. We reported earlier that Bruno Fernandes’ agent Miguel Pinho was in Saudi Arabia for talks with Al-Hilal following their offer.

After the talks, reports emerged that the Portuguese’s camp are demanding a higher wage offer than what is on the table.

However, away from the financial incentives, Bruno’s other side still wanted to stay in Europe with his family, playing competitive football in the English top flight despite United’s recent misfortunes.
