Nigeria’s Super Falcons began their preparations for the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in style with a commanding 2-0 win over rivals Cameroon in a friendly played on Tuesday evening at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta, MySportDab Reports.

Team captain Rasheedat Ajibade was the star of the show, netting both goals in the first half. The Atlético Madrid forward opened the scoring from the penalty spot after being brought down in the box. She doubled Nigeria’s lead minutes later, finishing off a slick attacking move initiated by Ifeoma Onumonu and delivered by Omorinsola Babajide’s precise assist.

Despite the heavy rain, the Falcons dominated proceedings with confident, organised play. Onumonu and Toni Payne were particularly influential in the early stages, creating multiple chances and putting Cameroon’s defence under pressure.

Nigeria’s backline, marshalled by veteran goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, held firm to keep the Indomitable Lionesses at bay throughout the match.

Head coach Justin Madugu used the opportunity to assess squad depth, making several changes after the break. Francisca Ordega, Christy Ucheibe, and other substitutes maintained the team’s structure, though Cameroon showed slight improvement in the second half without seriously threatening Nnadozie’s goal.

The result extended Nigeria’s dominance over Cameroon to 15 wins in 21 encounters and provided a much-needed confidence boost ahead of the upcoming WAFCON qualifiers.

With a balanced blend of experience and youth, the Super Falcons will aim to build on this disciplined performance as they prepare for continental glory.
