Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur fans have clashed ahead of their Europa League final match in Bilbao, Spain, MySportDab reports.
United will trade tackles with Tottenham Hotspur in an all-English 2024-25 Europa League final on Wednesday night.
Notably, the two teams lost their last fixtures to cap a gruelling domestic campaign ahead of this tie.
They are neck-and-neck in the 16th and 17th place in the Premier League standings, respectively and will hope to salvage what has been a disappointing domestic campaign with a win on Wednesday.
As expected, over 80,000 fans of both clubs have already flown into Spain to watch the match and support their teams turn a corner after their dismal seasons.
And it appears pre-match tensions between them have led to the undesirable.
According to a Spanish outlet, El Diario Vasco, fans of both sides fell out badly against each other on Tuesday night, leading to a mass brawl.
The incident reportedly occurred in San Sebastian, a few miles away from the match venue, at around 09:20pm.
Eyewitnesses revealed that it all started when the two fans ran into each other in the streets of San Sebastian, and started shouting and hurling insults at each other.
At the peak of the clash, a fan is said to have punched the other to the ground, escalating the brawl. They then started throwing objects at each other before local police officers intervened and quelled the conflict. [Watch Video on X]
No casualties have been reported, but scores sustained minor injuries and were attended to by emergency medical service agents.
The United and Spurs have a lot to play for going into this match. Apart from a trophy to write off their poor campaign this season, the winner will also directly qualify for the Champions League next season.
