Liverpool are set to secure their second signing this summer as they close in on a deal for talented Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez, MySportDab reports.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Reds ‘are completing the agreement on personal terms’ with Kerkez and have advanced on negotiations with Bournemouth to secure the services of the youngster.
Kerkez has been a standout performer for Bournemouth this season, playing a crucial role in Andoni Iraola’s side’s optimal run in the English top flight.
He has accumulated 36 Premier League appearances, scoring two goals and providing five assists. His remarkable strides with the Cherries made him a priority target for top Premier League and European clubs.
Real Madrid, including Barcelona were big mentions in the race for the 21-year-old. However, he was understood to only be interested in joining Liverpool.
This was due to his recent social media activity in which he liked a transfer update linking him to a move to the Merseyside club.
The Reds’ interest in Kerkez is not a surprise. With Robertson, 31, approaching the twilights of his career, the Hungarian full-back remains a viable replacement option in the left-back role for the Premier League champions.
However, it is understood Bournemouth value the player at £45million and will stop at nothing to secure the full bag before sanctioning the move.
Talks are ongoing between both clubs for the fee with Liverpool expected to seal it in no distant time.
Kerkez will become Liverpool’s second wing-back signing this summer after Dutch right-back Jeremy Frimpong joined from Bayer Leverkusen.
