Manchester City have sealed their spot in the Champions League next season following a deserved away victory over Fulham in the Premier League final matchday, MySportDab reports.
City went into the game third on the table with 68 points and needed at least a draw to book their slot in Europe’s top tier.
They started on a strong note, pushing hard to find the back of the net. Fulham also attempted countless attacking forays to upset the Premier League dominoes.
An expressly attacking play by both sides resulted in a fast-paced and momentous match marked with strong challenges and heated moments.
However, City still stayed atop proceedings and were dominating possession from the onset.
Nine minutes before the half-hour, IIkay Gundogan fired the away side into the lead to cap a brilliant and impressive start.
After the goal, Fulham stepped up their push to find the equalizer but could not as City held on to secure the lead at the break to close in on a Champions League spot.
In the second half, the hosts were still struggling to break even from City’s stranglehold. They did improve with a series of counterattacks but couldn’t break through City’s brink wall defence.
With the scoreline still at 1-0, hopes of a possible comeback weren’t off the horizon.
However, things went worse for the home side in the 72nd minute when they conceded a penalty.
Erling Haaland made no mistake stripping it brilliantly into the back of the net to make it 2-0.
Haaland’s goal happened to be the last in the game as City held on to win and secure their spot in the Champions League
