Novak Djokovic etched his name deeper into tennis history on Saturday, becoming just the third man to win 100 ATP titles after a dramatic 5-7, 7-6(2), 7-6(2) victory over Hubert Hurkacz in the Geneva Open final, MySportDab Reports.

The 38-year-old Serb, seeking form ahead of Roland Garros, fought back from a set down and survived a nervy three-hour, five-minute battle to join Jimmy Connors and Roger Federer in the exclusive 100-title club.

It also marked Djokovic’s first title since winning Olympic gold in Paris last summer and extended his record of winning at least one title in 20 consecutive seasons.

“I had to work for it, that’s for sure. He was probably closer to the victory the entire match than me,” Djokovic admitted post-match. “It was an incredible battle, and I’m delighted to clinch the 100th here.”

Hurkacz, ranked 31st and still chasing his first title since April 2024, started strong. After a tight opening set, Djokovic faltered with a double-fault on set point to hand the Pole a 7-5 lead.

The second set followed a similar pattern until Djokovic forced a tie-break and took control with four straight points.

The third set was equally intense, with Hurkacz breaking early and cruising through his next three service games. But nerves crept in as he faltered in the eighth game, handing Djokovic a lifeline.

After a tense hold to force another tie-break, Hurkacz again crumbled under pressure, making two crucial errors that allowed Djokovic to seal the win with an ace.

Djokovic now turns his attention to the French Open, where he begins his quest for a record 25th Grand Slam title against Mackenzie McDonald early next week.
