On-loan Man United winger Antony has aimed a subtle dig at the Old Trafford club as he clears the air on his transfer future, MySportDab reports.
The former Ajax star has been in the form of his life since he left United in January on a short-term loan deal to La Liga side Real Betis.
He has seven goals plus four assists in 20 appearances for the club and has garnered attention for his impressive performances for the Andalusian club.
His most notable performances came in the past two matches, where he scored a stoppage winner away against Espanyol in La Liga and the second goal in Real Betis’ 2-1 win over Fiorentina in Conference League semi-final first leg.
Having turned a corner after his dwindling fortunes at Manchester United, he has been linked to a potential return to the club when his loan deal expires.
However, it appears the Brazilian forward isn’t fancying a return to Old Trafford, but is hopeful of continuing his career in La Liga.
Speaking ahead of Real Betis’ Conference League semi-final return leg against Fiorentina, Antony threw an indirect shade at Manchester United while hinting at his transfer future.
”The best decision I have ever made is coming to Betis. I am happy, and when I am happy things go well,” he said.
Antony joined United as the club’s most expensive player in 2022 for £84m, but could only manage 12 goals with five assists in 96 games.
This attracted heavy backlash by Man United fans and former players like Gary Neville and Roy Keane, who believed he has not done enough for the batch and to justify the club’s transfer spending on his head.
However, the Brazilian has now silenced critics, accentuating brilliance and elite-level performances for Real Betis.
MySportDab understands Betis are open to renewing his loan deal, but United want a permanent exit solution for the player this summer.
