“A Striker Must Score Goals,” – Ruben Amorim Battles Hojlund In Sharp Dig

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim is not having it with his forward Rasmus Hojlund, MySportDab reports.

Hojlund has endured a dragging goal drought since the Portuguese assume the reins as new United boss midway into the campaign.

Overall, he has managed just three goals in his 28 Premier League appearances this season and five in 12 Europa League games.

For Amorim, the Danish forward has fallen below the benchmarks and has to improve. The former Ajax boss stated this ahead of Man United’s trip to Vitality Stadium for Premier League matchday 34 clash against Bournemouth on Sunday.

He insisted Ramus Hojlund must do better, adding the team is there to help him return to elite-level performance.

“A striker needs to score goals… so we try to help him and he is trying really hard and he wants things so bad he makes it worse.

“He created one situation against Wolverhampton and he is improving the small things. The goal will come,” he said as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.

Rasmus Hojlund, who joined United from Atalanta in 2023, is obviously in his shadows lately. He has struggled in front of goals and has fallen down the pecking order in Amorim’s attacking options.

This has seen him play only a bit-part role in the club’s Premier League campaign this season.

MySportDab understands the Danish sensation is on Amorim’s chopping block this summer, as the Portuguese prepare for a major squad overhaul at the end of the season.

However, he still has three years left on his contract but could settle for a new chapter next season away from United to breathe life back into his career.
