Arsenal’s new contract plan and salary offer for Thomas Partey has been confirmed, MySportDab reports.
MySportdab understands the Gunners are set to retain Partey on a new contract as the latter’s deal will be due at the end of the season.
Partey has been a key member of Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal squad since joining from Atletico Madrid in 2020. He has tallied 126 Premier League appearances for the club, scoring nine goals.
Notably, Partey’s future at Arsenal has been up in the air since last season as Arteta doubled down on streamlining the squad. He has a few months left on his contract and was expected to leave this summer.
Now, sources close to the club have revealed Partey has earned the favour of Arteta following his impressive performances this season. He has been crucial in the Gunners’ buildup to the Champions League last four and the club are now set to retain him on a new deal.
Notably, the Gunners’ new contract proposal has been laced with controversial terms. According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal want to retain Partey only with a shorter contract duration and on a reduced wage offer.
Partey’s estimated weekly wage with the Gunners is £200,000 with the player now expected to take a pay cut if he wants to continue with the club.
The report adds Partey is still assessing his options and it is still unclear whether he will settle for the new offer.
Meanwhile, he has been linked to a move to Saudi Arabia and is open to leaving for free at the end of the season if he can’t agree to the new proposal from Arsenal.
