Manchester United have been dealt a fresh injury blow as the season winds down, MySportDab reports.
The Red Devils have endured one of their worst campaigns in decades due to a run of poor performances on the domestic scene.
They are marooned in 14th place in the standings after managing just 38 points from 33 games. Notably, United’s underwhelming run of form in the Premier League has been linked both to new manager Ruben Amorim’s inability to evolve a working tactical signature for the team and also to the frequent loss of key players to injuries.
Worthy of mention is Ivorian and prolific winger Amad Diallo, who has been sidelined for months and was expected to miss the rest of the season.
Argentine and former Ajax centre-back Lisandro Martinez could only manage a bit-part role in the squad this season and is sidelined with a grave injury.
Summer arrival from Bayern Munich Mathijs de Ligt has missed scores of action due to injury as well. Other top players such as Mason Mount and Harry Maguire have struggled on and off the sidelines.
Now, it appears the ugly-looking injury incidents are far from over with a new name now added to the list. According to head coach Ruben Amorim, Diogo Dalot is the latest casualty in United’s piling injury list and he is likely to miss the rest of the season.
“Diogo will be out for the next games… and it’s possible also for the rest of the season,” he said as Fabrizio Romano quotes.
Dalot has been a key part of the United squad this season. He has made 32 Premier League appearances and 12 in the Europa League, scoring three goals plus three assists.
The blow will deplete Amorim’s defense options in the remaining part of the season, with his return date yet to be ascertained.
