Manchester United have made their stance known on the future of Antony at the club following a drastic decision on Real Betis’ offer for the player, MySportDab reports.
Antony is currently on loan with Real Betis till the end of the season and will be expected back at Old Trafford when the loan deal expires.
However, there have been speculations he could continue his career with the La Liga outfit following his impressive performances so far but the chances of such a development depends on United’s decision.
While it is unclear whether the Brazilian will opt to continue his career in La Liga or return to United, United have confirmed their decision on him based on their shock move on Real Betis’ offer recently.
According to The Mirror, Real Betis have submitted another proposal to Man United to extend Antony’s loan deal and secure his services for another season but United have turned down the proposal.
The report adds the Red Devils are still ready to part ways with Antony this summer but on a permanent, not another loan deal.
This means Real Betis must fork out a full transfer fee to sign the player or lose him at the end of the season when his loan deal expires.
Notably, Antony has turned a corner at Real Betis after what turned out to be a disappointing campaign with Manchester United since last season.
He has scored two La Liga goals plus two assists in his 10 appearances for the club and has been equally pivotal to the team’s upbeat outing in Europe so far this season.
This stellar shift with Manuel Pellegrini’s side has made him a top transfer target for other La Liga clubs with Atletico Madrid said to be in the race for him this summer.
Having breath life back into his career, it is assumed he may likely continue his career in La Liga but United are not ready for a short-cut deal for him this summer.
They are hoping to recoup at least a good part of the £84m they expended in signing him from Ajax in 2022.
