Manchester United left it late to hold a hard-fighting 10-man Bournemouth to a draw at the Vitality Stadium in the Premier League, MySportDab reports.
The Red Devils have endured a dry patch this season, struggling for results in the English top flight. They went into the game off the back of two straight league losses against Newcastle United and Wolves and needed victory to restore some fans’ confidence.
However, Andoni Iraola’s proved to be an even tougher opponent for the Manchester-based side. Leveraging their home advantage, the Cherries took United to the cleaners in the first half.
Antoine Semenyo capped a dominant performance by the home side with a 23rd-minute strike to give them the lead.
Notably, United ramped up attempts to find the equalizer after conceding but struggled in their opponents’ final third.
The first half ended with Bournemouth leading, but United had another 45 minutes to turn the game around.
The second half saw the struggling Ruben Amorim’s side step up their game, pushing hard to find a leveler and possibly a comeback.
They wielded 60% of the ball possession, fired eight shots, and had four on target, but couldn’t still break the deadlock in the build-up to the final minutes.
In the 70th minute, Bournemouth were down to 10 men after Brazilian forward Evanilson picked up a red card for a rash challenge.
With a one-man advantage, United were handed leverage in the remaining 20 minutes to find the equalizer but they couldn’t make the numerical value count immediately.
Bournemouth settled for low block while hoping to catch the visitors off counterattacks with United mounting heavy pressure.
Just at the last kick of the game in the 90+6th minute, Rasmus Hojlund finally came to the Red Devils’ rescue, scoring a tap-in from Manuel Ugarte’s assist to make it 1-1.
It ended squared with both sides settling a 1-1 draw after nervy final minutes of the game.
