Barcelona are one leg into the 2024-25 UEFA Champions League semi-finals following a thumping 4-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund in quarter-final first leg, MySportDab reports.
Hansi Flick’s side went into the game of the back of an impressive 21-match unbeaten run and were the clear favorites to ace the tie.
They dominated proceedings from the start and were looking set to cruise to a deserved victory. Just 23 minutes into proceedings, Raphinha opened the scoring for the La Liga giants, thanks to a brilliant assist by Pau Cubarsi.
Notably, Raphinha’s goal proved decisive in settling the tie in the first half as the Catalan giants took the lead into the break.
In the second half, it was still the home side on the front foot with Borussia Dortmund doing little to mount a comeback.
Just three minutes into the restart, Robert Lewandowski doubled the lead for the Catalans latching on an assist from the first goal scorer Raphinha.
With the visitors going down by two unreplied goals, it was literally a gameover with Barcelona still in the front foot and looking to re-extend the lead.
18 minutes after Robert Lewandowski’s goal, the Hansi Flick army got their third goal and it was Lewandowski with his second in the night to make it 3-0.
This time, Lopez provided the crucial assist that got the Polish forward on a vantage point to score but that was not the end of the drama.
Lamine Yamal also added his name to the score sheet in the 77th minute, netting a stunner to make it 4-0.
At the blast of the final whistle, it was the Blaugrana winning by the outrageous 4-0 margin to boost their chances of qualifying for the last four of the competition.
