Neymar has returned to the Brazil national team for the first time in 18 months, MySportDab reports.
Brazil head coach Dorivial Junior named the Santos winger in his squad for the March international break.
It is the first time the former Barcelona and PSG sensation has made the team since being stretched out with a hamstring issue in 2023.
The injury marked a major career setback for the forward as he had just completed a move to Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia a few days earlier.
Although recovering later, he suffered spates of other injury blows and could only manage just six appearances for his new club Al-Hilal throughout his one-and-a-half-year spell.
The niggling injury crisis led to the subsequent termination of his contract and he had to return to his roots at Santos to breathe life back into his career.
At Santos, things have turned out well for the player. He has scored three goals, providing three assists in seven matches.
It is believed this sudden renaissance has led to his inclusion on Dorivial Junior’s list.
Reacting to his call-up for international duty, Neymar dropped a four-word post on social media expressing his joy of making the team.
“Glad to be back,” he wrote.
He will be expected to contest for a starting role as Brazil gets ready for a rollercoaster 2026 CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiers clash against Colombia in the break.
Notably, despite his dwindling fortunes lately, Neymar remains one of Brazil’s legendary and top players with a lot of history with the Selecao.
He made his debut with the team in 2010 and has since racked up 128 caps, scoring 79 goals.
His inclusion in the rooster for the March international break has enlivened hopes of him making the squad for the 2026 World Cup should they book the ticket.
