Marcelo First Confirmed, 36, has drawn the curtains on his professional career which included a massively successful spell at Real Madrid and international appearances with Brazil, and in true heroine fashion, MySportDab Reports.
Marcelo arrived at Real Madrid as a teenager in January 2007 from Brazilian club Fluminense. He made 546 appearances for the club in the next 15 years, becoming an icon at the Santiago Bernabeu and earning the distinction of being the club’s first foreign captain in more than a century.
Marcelo won an astounding 25 trophies across his time with the club, making him the most decorated player in Real Madrid’s history.
His haul consists of six La Liga titles, five Champions League crowns, two Copas del Rey, five Spanish Supercups, three UEFA Super Cups and four FIFA Club World Cups.
“When I was 18 years old, Real Madrid knocked on my door,” Marcelo said in a poignant video. “I can finally say I’m a true Madrileño now.” 16 years, 25 trophies, five Champions Leagues and so many magical nights at the Bernabeu. What a journey!”
Marcelo left Madrid in 2022 before making a brief move to Greek outfit Olympiacos, and then rejoined Fluminense, where he started his career.
He returned back to Brazil and did well there, winning Fluminense’s first Copa Libertador title before departing at the end of the 2024.
Marcelo also had a distinguished international career, with 58 appearances for Brazil. He played for his country at two World Cups (2014 and 2018), two Olympic Games (2008 and 2012), and won the 2013 Confederations Cup.
“My story as a player ends here, but I have many things to give still to football,” Marcelo said. His legacy as one of the great footballers of all time is firmly established.
