Barcelona have finally sailed through the hurdle of registering Dani Olmo for the remaining half of the ongoing 2024-25 La Liga season, MySportDab reports.
The La Liga giants were on the verge of losing the Spanish midfield sensation in January due to restrictions from La Liga fair play rules.
They had until December 31, 2025 to finalize the registration of Olmo or lose the player as a free agent in January.
Meanwhile, in a bid to save the situation, they had filed an appeal in court to weather the limitations and force La Liga to shift ground for the registration but lost the appeal.
Now, according to Spanish journalist @Luis Figo on X, the club have finally broke even financially and will be able to register Dani Olmo for the remaining part of the season without hassles
This has been made possible by a mega deal that have been reached in the Middle East worth €100m – enough to provide the needed financial leverage to bypass La Liga fair play limitations and register the player.
The breakthrough is a big boost to the Catalan giants amidst reports Olmo’s agent was scouring for available new destinations for the player as the clock ticks against the deadline.
The 2024 Euros winner joined Barcelona from RB Leipzig last summer and has been an integral part of Hansi-Flick’s squad.
He has made 16 La Liga appearances, scoring five goals and is expected to continue on his fine form as the club push for the La Liga title.
Another Barcelona star Pau Victor, who was also affected by the registration problem, is also set to be cleared.
Barcelona gave grappled with limitations from La Liga Fair Play Rules due to their financial situation which had impacted their transfer activities and squad rebuild.
The €100m-worth deal is expected to usher the club into a new ground to weather such limitations.
