BREAKING! Finidi George Resigns As Super Eagles Head Coach!

Nigeria Super Eagles head coach Finidi George has resigned from his role as Nigeria senior men’s national team manager, MySportDab reports.

Sources close to Nigeria Football Federation,NFF, confirmed the former Nigeria international-turned manager submitted his letter of resignation to the Nigeria football’s governing body today.

The reason for Finidi George’s resignation is yet unclear. However, some reports claim the Real Betis legend and former Enyimba manager is opposed to NFF’s plan to employ the services of a foreign technical adviser for the Super Eagles.

On June 14, the NFF issued a statement after an emergency meeting, confirming their decision to employ a technical adviser for the Super Eagles.

“The Executive Committee resolved to employ an expatriate Technical Adviser for the Super Eagles in the coming weeks, ahead of the AFCON qualifiers and the remaining FIFA World Cup qualifying matches,” NFF statement reads.

While the body did not announce the sack of Finidi George, it is understood the employment of a technical adviser was a subtle demolition of Finidi George as the head coach of the Super Eagles.

So, his decision to resign was envisaged as he would be taking orders from the technical adviser. His resignation is coming just a month after he was appointed as head coach.

Under his watch, the Super Eagles have managed only one win from four games. They defeated Ghana in international friendly, lost to Mali, drew South Africa in 2026 World Cup qualifiers, and lost to Benin Republic in their last match.
