Bayern Munich have stumbled again in the Bundesliga title with a shock defeat to lowly-rated side Heidenheim, MySportDab reports.
The Bavarians started the game on the front foot with Harry Kane opening the scoring for the away side to race them into the lead.
At the stroke of halftime, Serge Gnabry extended the lead, scoring exactly in the 45th minute to make it 2-0.
The two goals were enough to send the away side into the lead at the break with Heidenheim doing little to mount a comeback.
It was an entirely different game in the second half with Bayern Munich still on the ascendancy but Heidenheim improved their game and were contesting earnestly for the possession.
Five minutes into the second half, a quickfire double, scored by Sessa and Kleindienst, saw the home side restore parity in a flash.
Sessa scored in the 50th minute before Keindienst added to the scoreline just a minute later to peg Bayern to a dramatic 2-2 draw.
It was still a cagey affair between the two sides going forward. The game was poised for a nervy finish as Bayern Munich battled to retake the lead.
In the 79th minute, Heidenheim put the away to the sword with a surprise goal against the run of play. Latching on an assist by Pieringer, Kleindienst made it 3-2 for the home side.
Surrendering two first-half goals to trail 3-2, Bayern Munich ramped up attempts to find the leveler but failed to make their dominance count.
Heidenheim survived the late pressure by the visitors with resolute defense to salvage all three points from the Bundesliga giants at the blast of the final.
It was a shocking defeat for the Bundesliga champions who have now fallen 16 points behind Bayern Leverkusen at the top.
