Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has made a triumphant return to training with his Napoli teammates after recovering from a muscle injury, MySportDab reports.

The Serie A champions conducted their training session at the SSCN Konami Training Center in Naples, Italy, where Osimhen joined his teammates who missed the recent international window.

Osimhen, who was initially included in Finidi George’s 27-man squad for Nigeria’s international friendlies against Ghana and Mali, had to withdraw due to a muscle injury sustained during the Champions League round of 16 clash against Barcelona. However, the 24-year-old forward is now back on the pitch and gearing up for future challenges.

Under the guidance of coach Francesco Calzona, Osimhen participated in the morning session alongside teammate Matteo Politano, who is also recovering from an injury.

According to reports from AreaNapoli, both players are expected to be available for Napoli’s upcoming match against Atalanta after the international break concludes on March 30th.

Osimhen’s return to training comes as a boost for Napoli, who are currently in the midst of a tight race for a top-four spot in Serie A.

With nine games remaining in the season, Napoli sits seventh on the league table, trailing fourth-placed Bologna by nine points. The Nigerian striker has been a key contributor to Napoli’s campaign this season, tallying 14 goals in 17 league appearances.

Despite facing injury setbacks and navigating through international competitions like the AFCON, Osimhen has demonstrated resilience on the field.

While he has not replicated his remarkable goal-scoring form from the previous season, where he finished as Serie A’s top scorer with 26 goals, Osimhen remains a vital asset for Napoli as they strive for success in both domestic and European competitions.
