AFCON 2023: Nigeria 1-1 Equatorial Guinea, Osimhen RESCUE Super Eagles! (VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS)

Victor Osimhen rescued the Super Eagles of Nigeria as they managed a 1-1 draw against Equatorial Guinea in AFCON 2023, MySportDab reports.

It was an eventful first half coming from both Nations who were on point going forward and also making something count.

Victor Osimhen was also the villain as he missed too many opportunities which could have cemented the victory for the opening match.

There was a lot that happened in the first half which the Super Eagles had a lot of opportunities of making something happen.

Equatorial Guinea weren’t bad as they had everything under control despite seeing less of the ball which was always with their opponent.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria were stunned after seeing themselves go down with a goal from Iban Salvador in the 36th minutes to make it 0-1.

Victor Osimhen was available to get the leveler in the 38th minutes after a decent header with assist from Haruna Lookman which saw things turning 1-1.

Moses Simon came close to scoring, but his strike was put away from a corner which resulted to nothing as Nigeria headed into the break with 1-1 scoreline against Equatorial Guinea.

The second half was different with both Nations coming in with an entire different approach trying to see what they can make happen.

Nigeria held on fine while deploying so much in trying to make sure they commit more bodies forward and try to push for the lead in the early minutes.

Equatorial Guinea were doing well in keeping things level as they tried everything possible to ensure they did not concede in the match.

The game provided nothing as Victor Osimhen came close on a couple of occasions but couldn’t make it count in the match.

Nigeria had to settle for a 1-1 draw against Equatorial Guinea ensuring they grab one point from their AFCON 2023 opening match.
