KAA Gent striker and Super Eagles talent, Gift Orban, finds himself facing a two-game suspension and a €1,500 fine due to his recent display of violent conduct during a match, MySportDab reports

The incident unfolded during a game against Eupen when the 21-year-old Nigerian forward was shown a straight red card in the 44th minute for his aggressive behavior towards an opponent.

At that point, Gent was trailing 1-0 in the match, but they managed to rally and secure a 2-1 victory.

KAA Gent officially confirmed Orban’s suspension and fine through their social media channel, highlighting the consequences of his actions.

The Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office proposed a two-match suspension, with one of those matches deferred. Consequently, Orban will be ineligible to play in the upcoming match against Antwerp.

The incident leading to his suspension was characterized as “physical misconduct,” specifically citing a “brutal push with high intensity” towards an opponent.

Although this marks Orban’s first red card in 57 professional matches, it did not spare him from the consequences of his actions.

The Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office determined that a minimum suspension of two matches was warranted, in accordance with the indicative table. In addition to the suspension, a €1,500 fine was imposed on the player.

Despite joining Gent on loan in January, Orban has been a formidable presence on the field, contributing two goals in six games in the Belgian league this season. His impressive track record includes an astounding 15 goals in 16 league appearances.

While Orban’s suspension is undoubtedly a setback for both the player and the team, it serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining composure and sportsmanship on the field.

KAA Gent and Super Eagles fans will eagerly await Orban’s return to action after his suspension, hoping he can continue his remarkable performance in the Belgian league.
