Manchester United Target Anwar El Gazi For Sancho, Antony Replacement
Manchester United are plotting a shock move for former Aston Villa winger Anwar El Gazi to replace Antony and Jadon Sancho at the club, MySportDab reports.
United are facing a dearth of right wingers on the flanks due to uncertainties surrounding the future of Antony and Jadon Sancho at Old Trafford.
Antony has been axed off Manchester United squad following weighty assault allegations by his former girlfriend, Gabriela Cavallin, and two other Brazil women, Freitas and Lana.
After initially refusing to suspend him, United finally bowed to pressure and confirmed in a club statement they have reached agreement with Antony to delay his return to action with the club till further notice, pending the outcome of the ongoing investigations into the assault allegations.
Jadon Sancho, on the other hand, is also facing an uncertain future at the club after his recent row with Erik Ten Hag for suspending him from Manchester United squad.
Erik Ten Hag dropped Jadon Sancho in Man United’s Premier League clash against Arsenal and later revealed in postmatch press conference he dropped the player for living below expectations in training.
Reacting to Erik Ten Hag’s presser, Jadon Sancho took to social media to discountenance the Dutch manager, saying he has been doing his best for the team and has been unfairly targeted and scapegoated by the Dutch.
Following the row, his future at Man United is uncertain with reports linking him to a possible exit in January transfer window.
With uncertainties hanging over the future of the two wingers, Erik Ten Hag is now plotting a move for former Aston Villa winger, Anwar El Gazi.
Anwar El Gazi played for for Dutch side, PSV Eindhoven last season but has been released by the club after he reached agreement with PSV Eindhoven to terminate his contract.
He has played for other top clubs in Europe including Ajax, Lille, and Everton.
Manchester United will race against interests from Saudi Arabia who are also plotting a move for the player.
Anwar El Gazi has won two caps with Dutch national team and had scored 8 Eredivisie goals in 24 appearances for PSV Eindhoven.
