Burnley has gained promotion back to the Premier League after an away win against Middlesbrough on Friday, MySportDab reports.

The Carets, who are top of the Championships, opened an astonishng 19 points gap from the Championships play-offs spot after the victory over Middlesbrough.

Their promotion to the English topflight was confirmed after they took advantage of the stalemate draw between Millwall and Luton in the early kick off.

Luton sat third on the Championship table and needed a win against Millwall to extend Burnley’s wait for promotion.

Unfortunately, they settled for a goalless draw against Millwall away from home, giving Burnley an automatic ticket to the Premier League next season after the latter defeated Middlesbrough.

Barnes scored the opener for Burnley early in the first half before Akpom canceled out the lead three minutes into the second half.

In the 66th minute, Roberts put Burnley back into the lead as they held on to win 1-2 after the final whistle.

They are now 19 points clear of the playoffs and have been confirmed promoted to the Premier League.

Sheffield United are second on the table and are eyeing automatic promotion but are 11 points adrift of Burnley who have garnered 87 points after 39 games.
