Barcelona have confirmed statement on Gavi contract amidst rumors linking the youngster to Camp Nou exit, MySportDab reports.

Gavi has been a subject of transfer rumors after it was confirmed Barcelona may not be able register him for a new contract.

His contract at Barcelona was set to expire soon and he was linked to Chelsea move amidst claims a new contract for him, signed in September, is yet to be registered.

The youngster, who has been an integral part of the mini-revival at Camp Nou under Xavi Hernandez, signed a new contract with the Catalan club which was set to extend his stay at Camp Nou till 2026.

However, Barcelona were unable to register his new contract due to the persisting financial deadlock that has bedeviled the club.

Gavi’s new contract with Barcelona was yet to be approved by LaLiga as the Spanish football governing body insist Barcelona must align their transfer activities with the Financial Fair Play Rules as put forward by Laliga.

Barcelona were asked by Laliga to sell off some of their players to reduce wage spending for an improved financial status before being active in the transfer market.

The FFP rules has been the bane of the faceoff between Laliga and Barcelona which has hindered their attempt to register Gavi’s new contract.

Now, an official statement by Barcelona sport director Marlteu Alemany on the Gavi situation reads;

“We will register Gavi’s contract for sure. There is no problem at all.”

If the registration goes through and is approved by Laliga, Gavi will stay at Camp Nou till 2026 with a releases clause of €1B.
