Brianna Hammonds, now known as Brianna Betts, is an entrepreneur, philanthropist, and the wife of Los Angeles Dodgers star Mookie Betts.
The two met in middle school in Nashville, Tennessee, and their relationship, which began with a friend’s crush, grew into a partnership spanning more than 15 years, three World Series championships, three children, and Brianna’s own growing business, Honee Inc.

She was born on August 7, 1994, in Nashville, Tennessee. Brianna Hammonds is the daughter of Tracey and Claude Hammonds.
She attended John Overton High School in Nashville, where she excelled both academically and athletically, playing competitive basketball during her time there.
She went on to study business at Tennessee State University. Brianna remains close to her mother, Tracey, and her extended family while keeping most other personal details out of the public eye.
The family currently divides its time between Franklin, Tennessee, and a home in Encino, California, tied to Mookie’s career with the Dodgers.
Mookie Betts’ Wife
Brianna Hammonds and Mookie Betts met in middle school in Nashville when Brianna was in seventh grade, and Mookie was in eighth.
In a charmingly specific story she later shared with Ebony, Brianna explained that one of her best friends, who has since passed away, actually had a crush on Mookie but was too nervous to approach him.
Brianna stepped in on her friend’s behalf, telling Mookie that her friend liked him, an approach he initially brushed off.
Months later, after Mookie had moved beyond his early focus on sports and video games, he changed his mind and asked Brianna out himself, not once, but twice, because she initially told him she hadn’t heard his question the first time, even though she had.
Their relationship continued through their teenage years and beyond, developing over more than 15 years before eventually leading to marriage.
Engagement and Wedding
Mookie Betts proposed to Brianna Hammonds on January 7, 2021, staging an elaborate surprise during what Brianna believed was a fake awards dinner in Nashville.
Mookie got down on one knee in front of guests, presented her with a seven-carat diamond ring, read a heartfelt poem, and then delivered what turned out to be a proposal disguised as an acceptance speech.
The couple married on December 1, 2021, at the Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, in a ceremony attended by roughly 200 guests, including friends and family from the baseball community.
A rehearsal dinner was held at Dodger Stadium three days before the wedding and was attended by several Dodgers players and team co-owners.
Their daughter served as the flower girl, and rapper Nelly performed Brianna’s favorite Song, “Dilemma,” during the reception, followed by a surprise appearance from Lil Wayne at the after-party.
The couple honeymooned in Los Cabos, Mexico.
Children
Brianna and Mookie have three children together. Their daughter, Kynlee Ivory Betts, was born on November 6, 2018, just days after Mookie won his first World Series championship with the Boston Red Sox.
Mookie wrote at the time that he never knew what unconditional love meant until meeting his daughter. Their son, Kaj Lynn Betts, was born in April 2023.
Their third child, daughter Khari Betts, was born in the spring of 2026, with the couple announcing her arrival on Instagram with the caption, “The newest addition to the Betts Bunch.”
Philanthropy
In 2021, Brianna and Mookie co-founded the 5050 Foundation, built around a clear mission: breaking down barriers that prevent children from reaching their full potential, particularly those facing medical or financial challenges.
The foundation operates around four core pillars that reflect Mookie’s values: mental and emotional health, nutrition, financial literacy, and physical fitness.
The foundation’s work has expanded considerably over the years. It launched the annual Mookie Betts and Friends Bowling Tournament in Los Angeles in 2023 to introduce the foundation to a wider audience, with proceeds from the 2024 event funding field improvements at Jackie Robinson’s former high school, John Muir, including dugout renovations and outfield upgrades.
Through a partnership with UCLA Children’s Hospital, the foundation created the Betts on Us Fund, providing financial assistance to families of pediatric patients needing access to quality healthcare.
In 2025, the foundation partnered with the Obama Foundation at Hyde Park Academy to donate youth sports equipment and funded the Mookie Betts Metro Baseball Tournament in Nashville.
It helped establish an academic GPA challenge for baseball and softball teams in partnership with the Los Angeles Unified School District.
That same year, the foundation also provided financial support and resources to a local family who lost their home in the Eaton Fire near Altadena, California.

In 2024, she began teasing a new venture called Honee Inc., a lifestyle and wellness brand, marking her first major independent professional venture distinct from her role as an MLB spouse. Honee remains in its early growth phase, with Brianna serving as founder and CEO.
