Erik ten Hag has now urged Marcus Rashford to sign a new contract and watch him build a world class team at Old Trafford, MySportDab reports.

The 25-year-old has scored nine goals since the World Cup ended, but his future is not yet decided right now.

Rashford is now in the last 18 months of his £200,000-a-week contract at Old Trafford but United activated the one-year extension clause.

The Red Devils want him to sign a new contract and there is growing interest from Paris Saint-Germain.

Ten Hag has been key to Rashford’s fantastic performance this season.

Asked about Rashford’s contract, Ten Hag said: ‘It’s obvious thats Man United is his club. But also here, he is playing his best football.

‘So we are planning to build the best team in England, then in the world and this is the best place to be when it happens.

‘He is improving because he is giving 100 per cent energy. I think he can perform in any team. This team is in a way that his qualities come to the fore and It’s obvious. He is obviously important for us and we need him to get the success we want.’

Rashford’s progress is different from teammate Anthony Martial, struggling with injuries under Ten Hag.

Martial has only started six Premier League matches this season, and never played the full 90 minutes.

He will also miss Wednesday’s Carabao Cup game at Nottingham Forest due to a leg injury.

Ten Hag said: ‘Yes, he can’t keep getting injured. He’s very important for us because he’s a key part of our best football when available.’

Ten Hag is now closer to winning a cup in his first season and end United’s six-year trophy drought.
