Barcelona have dropped points after settling for a 1-1 draw with Espanyol in a hotly contested La Liga game, MySportDab reports.

First Half Report

Barcelona dominated proceedings as the first half of the game began.

The Catalans needed to secure all three points to return to the summit of the table after Real Madrid had the better of Rayo Valladolid.

Espanyol did little in the game as they sit back to defend against their more formidable opponents.

It was not long before Barcelona took the lead after missing some attempts.

Despite leading by a goal to nil, Barcelona still dominated play and looked set to double the lead.

Espanyol sat back to defend, waiting to beat Barcelona in counterattacks.

The first half ended with Barcelona going into the break with a deserved 1-0 lead.

Second Half Report

Nothing changed as the second half began, with Barcelona still holding sway over the game.

The Catalans continued to dominate the play and pushed for a second goal without a way through.

They were dealt a big blow in the 78th minute when they conceded a penalty, and Joselu converted it to equalize.

With just 12 minutes into the game, the scoreline was standing at 1-1.

Barcelona ramped up the pressure to return to the lead, all to no avail, as the game finally ended in a 1-1 draw after the final whistle.
