Erling Haaland has a shocking clause in his Manchester City contract that can be activated in 2024, MySportDab reports.

The Norwegian has a £175million release clause which can only be activated by clubs outside of the Premier League.

It got revealed last week that Haaland is earning around £865,000-per-week at Manchester City since he arrived in the summer.

Now, According to The Athletic, Haaland’s five-year contract includes a release clause, one which would make it impossible for him to join a Premier League rival.

MySportDab understands that Haaland’s £175m release clause can only be activated by teams from other leagues in 2024.

The release clause will drastically decrease toward the end of his contract which will expire in 2027.

By then, the Norwegian would be 27-years-old and be in the prime of his football career.

His release clause will attract clubs like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich.

However, Manchester United, Chelsea and the rest of the Premier League must wait for Haaland to become a free agent, which is very unlikely.

In 2024, The Athletic believes that Spanish clubs will will do everything possible to sign Haaland with Real Madrid and Barcelona interested.

By 2024, Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema will be 36, Barcelona’s Robert Lewandowski will also be the same age before the 2024-2025 season starts.

So, it would be perfect timing for both clubs to look at the future and try to sign one of football’s next true superstar players.

While City paid Dortmund £51m for the player, the whole deal cost the Ethiad club around £85m.

Haaland is currently happy at City, and has impressed in his debut Premier League season.
