Mason Greenwood has now surprisingly been included in Manchester United’s squad for the 2022-23 season, MySportDab reports.
The English youngster has now played for the Red Devils since January due to sexual assault allegations from his girlfriend.
However, Erik ten Hag today confirmed his Manchester United squad for the Premier League season.
All of United’s summer signings Martin Dubravka, Tyrell Malacia, Lisandro Martinez, Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and Antony are now included in the squad confirmed for the 2022-23 season.
The Premier League has a rule that does not allow more than 17 players who are not ‘Home Grown Player’ criteria, which means the remaining players must be homegrown.
Cristiano Ronaldo is an example of an homegrown player for the Red Devils.
An homegrown player is a football that has played for an FA-affiliated club for minimum three years before his 21st birthday.
Ronaldo, Sancho, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Nathon Bishop, Scott McTominay, Rashford, Luke Shaw, and Axel Tuanzebe are the homegrown players in the squad.
Anthony Elanga, 20, and Alejandro Garnacho, 18, have played for the first-team this season, since they are under 21 years old, the Premier League does not require them as part of the squad.
That explains their omission from the 25-squad squad released today.
Mason Greenwood is included as part of the Under 21 players so he’s part of the team but not here below.
You can check it out on Manchester United’s official website.
