Barcelona has stripped Dutch international and former Man United striker Memphis Depay of the no.9 Jersey, MySportDab reports.

Although putting up a sterling performance in the Blaugrana’s preseason campaign, Xavi has maintained that the club is no longer interested.

The signing of Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich and Raphinha from Leeds have put immense pressure on the Dutch international.

Memphis Depay has admitted that he will choose to stay at Camp Nou and fight for his place in the team, but it appears the club is not bent on their position on the player.

However, while presenting the new arrival, Robert Lewandowski, the Catalans have handed over the number 9 jersey to Robert Lewandowski ahead of the 2022-2023 La Liga Campaign.

There are speculations that Lewandowski has demanded for the symbolic no.9 jersey as part of his condition to join the club.

Laporta admitted yesterday during the presentation that, with much respect to Depay, the club had to take the difficult decision for the interest of the club.

Lewandowski was handed the no.9 jersey as he now emerges as Xavi’s number one forward for the team.

Memphis Depay may have a difficult period at Barcelona given the arrival of Barcelona’s new signings this summer.

He has been linked to his former club. It is yet unclear whether he will join the Old Trafford club or choose to stay at Camp Nou, as he said
