Manchester United are now determined to sign Villarreal Centre back Pau Torres, MySportDab reports.
The young defender rejected a move to the Premier League last year to play in the Champions League.
However, Villarreal have a big task now to keep him at the club beyond this summer as Manchester United are ready to spend.
According to Spanish Newspaper Marca, Man Utd want to sign Torres to improve their defence ahead of the new season.
The Red Devils are open to paying £43m for the player.
New Coach Erik ten Hag loves to play out from the back and wants to sign to a ball-playing centre back and Torres is a perfect fit.
Torres’ agents, Tarraga and Fores, are expected in Manchester this week to start negotiations immediately.
The meeting will be focused on Manchester United reaching an agreement with Villarreal on the fee for the player.
However, due to the Spanish club’s financial situation, Torres is one of the players now available in the market.
Unai Emery’s team managed to qualify for the Europa Conference League at the end of the La Liga season.
Torres has a £50m release clause but Villarreal could sell to sell for less.
Real Madrid have also previously shown interest in the defender.
Should Manchester United Sign Torres, it will bring in more competition for Maguire and Varane next season.
