Chelsea wanted to sign centre-back in summer window but everything collapsed when they failed to reach agreement for asking price.

Manchester United are in contention to sign Jules Kounde from Sevilla, according to reports reaching us from Fichajes.

The defender was pursued by Chelsea in the summer transfer window, but the English Premier League side could not match Sevilla’s asking price of €80 million.

Manchester United could swoop in with an offer, but Sevilla will not let him leave unless they can be able to triggers his €80 million release clause.

The Red Devils won’t be also looking to spend that much on a defender knowing they already have two regulars who always starts games for them.

They will be looking to see if they can get the defender for a less price which will give them more options in their selection.

Manchester United is current dealing with injury problems as Harry Maguire and Raphael Varane are both out due to injuries sustained during International break.

This will see both key defenders miss out on a couple of games but Harry Maguire is almost ready to make a comeback from his injury.

While Raphael Varane is likely to miss the remainder of this month which Manchester United have five games to be played including Champions League.

Jules Kounde is now being targeted as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be looking to use him as back when situation of injury occurs like what they are facing now.
