‘Ronaldo is a Manchester United legend, and the greatest player of all time, in my opinion,’ said Solskjaer.

‘I didn’t think expect him to leave Juventus. We’ve always had a good relationship and I know Bruno (Fernandes) has been in touch with him.

‘He knows how we feel about him. If he was ever planning to leave Juventus, he knows we’re here.

‘When you are Messi, Ronaldo, Pogba or Bruno, there is always news about you. Let’s see what happens with Cristiano. He is forever a legend of this club.

‘I don’t want to talk too much on Cristiano. We focus on the players we have here.

‘I had the opportunity to play with him and coach him. Everyone has a soft spot for him.’
